چکیده

Nanomaterials have been defined as any material possessing at least one dimension in the nanometer scale between 1 and 100 nm. As a result, a new field has emerged during last decades: Nanotechnology. It can be defined as the design, synthesis and application of materials and devices whose size and shape have been engineered at the nanoscale. In addition to the main properties of Nanomaterials, Au nanostructures exhibit a variety of optical, physical and chemical properties (localized surface plasmon resonance, photoluminescence, surface-enhanced Raman scattering, resistance, bioinert nature or photo thermal effect) that make them especially interesting for biomedical applications. Here, we will summarize those with high relevance and impact on the future of the medicine in terms of development of new detection and imaging techniques and innovative therapies against cancer.

Synthesis and Characterization of Silver and Gold Nano-Structures on Chitosan-Porous Anodic Alumina Nano-Composite

This study was designed to probe the fabrication of unique silver and gold nano-structures engaging a self-designed chitosan-porous anodic alumina nano-composite as a template. Porous anodic alumina has been manufactured by di-step aluminum anodization in an oxalic acid electrolytic bath. The surface properties of porous anodic alumina were reinforced by chitosan neutralized in sodium hydro...

Gold nanostructures: engineering their plasmonic properties for biomedical applications.

The surface plasmon resonance peaks of gold nanostructures can be tuned from the visible to the near infrared region by controlling the shape and structure (solid vs. hollow). In this tutorial review we highlight this concept by comparing four typical examples: nanospheres, nanorods, nanoshells, and nanocages. A combination of this optical tunability with the inertness of gold makes gold nanost...
